Shortly after noon, I arrived at the Baton Rouge airport to see whether I could gather any firsthand information about the rumored “Lane Kiffin flight” headed into town.
After about fifteen minutes of waiting, the flight that everyone had been tracking finally landed. I watched it taxi over to the MMR hangar, where a carpet had already been laid out. From there, I saw—now confirmed—Layla Kiffin, Chris Kiffin, and Chris Kiffin’s wife and two children exit the plane. I couldn’t definitively tell whether Lane Kiffin himself was traveling with them, but I did note a tall man in a white hat who stepped off the aircraft roughly ten minutes after the family and went inside.
At this point, the smoke feels very real. Knox Kiffin, currently the starting quarterback at Oxford High, is a major consideration in any decision Lane makes. The leading expectation is that he would enroll at University High in Baton Rouge if the family relocates.
