Despite A Bad First Half LSU Defeats Alcorn State 107-81

Baton Rouge, LA – LSU hoops took care of business Tuesday night at the PMAC, dropping 107 points on Alcorn State and cruising to a 107–81 win. But let’s be honest: it wasn’t all sunshine and Tiger droppings from the jump.

For the first 20 minutes, LSU looked like they’d just rolled out of bed from an afternoon nap. The defense was late on everything, the rebounding wasn’t nearly as dominant as it should’ve been, and the energy felt… off. Alcorn State hung around way longer than any team named Alcorn State should be allowed to in the PMAC.

Then halftime happened. Whatever Matt McMahon said in that locker room needs to be bottled and sold, because LSU came out in the second half like their NIL checks depended on it. Shots started falling, the pace kicked up, the bigs finally remembered they’re, you know, big, and suddenly the scoreboard looked exactly how everyone expected it to look from the jump.

A few highlights from the chaos:

  • Final Score: LSU 107, Alcorn State 81 — business handled.

  • Second-Half Glow-Up: LSU basically went from “half-asleep intramural team” to “NBA Jam on fire mode.” Hit the gas and never looked back.

  • Board Men Get Paid: Once LSU woke up, they owned the glass. Rebounds turned into breakaways, and breakaways turned into buckets.

  • Robert Miller = Certified Problem: The kid keeps getting better. Big minutes, clutch free throws, and looking more and more like a frontcourt anchor.

  • Shane Lancaster: Alcorn’s Human Heat Check: Credit where it’s due — this dude came off the bench bombing threes like he had a quota to hit. Kept things respectable for the Braves.

In the end, LSU got the win, scored a million points, and shook off the early slop. Next up: Omaha rolls into town on Friday, Nov. 21. Ideally the Tigers show up for both halves this time.
